Tenderfoot Boogie
Saturday, June 19, 2027 – 12KM | 26KM | 50KM

The scenic Tenderfoot Boogie is a fantastic, fun and challenging race on mostly runnable (but some very technical) trails running through beautiful west coast forests and around glacier-fed streams and rivers. Both new and experienced trail runners will find something for them as they experience the beauty of BC’s coastal mountains in Whistler, BC.
The 12K distance provides a shorter or faster run, while the 26K adds difficulty with the increased distance. The Tenderfoot course really shines in the 50K distance, with some really spicy climbing and technicality, on an otherwise runnable course. Be cautioned that this is not a road race and trail experience on rocky, steep and gravelly terrain is needed.

Both new and experienced trail runners will find something for them as they experience the beauty of BC’s coastal mountains in Whistler, BC.

Note: The course has been designed to bring the runners close to the WHISTLER TRAIN WRECK, an iconic tourist site. The official race course does not go directly to the Train Wreck, but racers have the OPTION to visit it during (or after) the race. The detour is <100m. If you do so, please be courteous, as it may be busy with other trail users.
The Tenderfoot Boogie 12K course starts and finishes at Bayly Park, south of Whistler, BC. This mostly out-and-back course begins with an initial loop through Bayly Park to spread the field before heading onto the trails. Runners will head West on the Sea-to-Sky Trail towards the beautiful Cheakamus River. This narrow trail may be congested so please be cautious and courteous. About 1.2K into the course, make a right turn onto Trash Trail. Trash will bring you to the bridge than crosses the river to the infamous Whistler Train Wreck. Runners will have the OPTION to cross over the suspension bridge to view the train wreck and then return the same way to continue along the route. This would add approximately 5 minutes to your race time, depending on how long you spend taking selfies with the train cars.

After the optional view of the train wreck, runners will head up to the left, up Track Wreck Express and turn right to get back on the Sea-to-Sky Trail. Stay on the south side of the river, until crossing over the river at approximately 6K and continuing along the Sea-to-Sky Trail. At approximately 7K, runners will reach the turn around point and water station. You will return on the same route on the Sea-to-Sky Trail. You will not turn down towards the Train Wreck. Instead, go a short distance further, and then turn left at approximately 11K on a small connector trail to join Trash Trail, turning to the right onto Trash. Note, Trash is a narrow, technical trail – please be cautious and courteous. Continue along Trash Trail towards Legacy Way, and just before Legacy Way take the right turn towards Bayly Park and the finish line.
Have a great race!

The 26K runners will turn off at this point. 50K runners continue north on Riverside Trail.
The 50K route crosses Cheakamus Lake Road at a pedestrian crossing, and then Highway 99 at the Function Junction traffic light to the Function Junction Aid Station #3 is at approximately 26K.
Note: The highway crossing includes 1 light. YOU MUST TAKE CARE AND CROSS WITH THE WALK SIGNAL AT THE HIGHWAY and use caution at the pedestrian crossings. Please DO NOT SHORT CUT THE PEDESTRIAN CROSSING ON CHEAKAMUS ROAD.
Upon leaving the Function Junction aid station, the route starts climbing steadily up Flank Trail for approximately 4K. The trail follows the Rainbow-Sproatt-Flank Trail (aka Flank Trail) and Rainbow Falls Loop for about 10K until reaching the Rainbow Falls Trailhead at Alta Lake Rd. You are now at an Aid Station #4 with an outhouse and parking lot for spectators (~37K). The trail will loop back up on the other side of 21 Mile Creek for approximately 700m. It then follows a series of lovely winding mountain bike trails and old gravel roads. You will arrive at Stonebridge Way Aid Station #5 (~41K) before climbing back to join the Flank Trail.
Please note, some of the MTB trails have multiple switchbacks, which makes them nicely flowing and runnable. PLEASE DON’T SHORTCUT THE SWITCHBACKS. Once you join up with Flank Trail, you retrace your steps to Function Junction on a steady long downhill, cross the highway again at the controlled intersection, and return to finish at Bayly Park. Have a great race!
Heads up: as we are using mountain bike trails, maintained by WORCA, please stay aware and watch for riders. Please give riders the right-of-way on any MTB trails.

Paul Shepski brings his love of ultra trail racing to the world of photography. He knows the dedication and perseverance it takes to run the trails and is now capturing that essence in others through his spectacular trail racing photos and videos. Paul’s love of the environment takes him to the least expected place on the trails to seize the best opportunity for a great photo of our racers. Do not panic…it is Paul, not a bear!

“I use photography to capture the spirit of trail running, the quiet moments before the start, the intensity of a climb, the relief and pride at the finish line.“
“Through authentic imagery, I want to make trail running feel accessible, inclusive, and inspiring.”
Hello my name is Callum Eastwood, I grew up in the local city of Port Moody, surrounded by forests and mountains that naturally draw people to the trails. With family roots in Burnley, I was raised with a deep appreciation for community, hard work, and the outdoors, values that shape how I approach my creative work today.
While I’ve never been a trail runner myself, running has always been part of my life. My mom is well known in the running community, and through her I’ve seen the strength, resilience, and connection that trail running creates. Being around races, training stories, and the people behind them gave me a unique perspective, not from inside the pack, but from the sidelines, observing the emotion, grit, and joy that make this sport so powerful.
My journey started with my grandpa’s camera, photographing animals in the backyard. What began as childhood curiosity turned into a passion for storytelling through images. Today, I use photography to capture the spirit of trail running, the quiet moments before the start, the intensity of a climb, the relief and pride at the finish line.
I may not be the one racing up the mountain, but I’m passionate about helping more people feel invited into the sport. Through authentic imagery, I want to make trail running feel accessible, inclusive, and inspiring. My goal is to highlight not just performance, but people, and to help grow a community that everyone feels they can be a part of.
